Better Together: The Doe Fund’s Graduation Ceremony | Saturday, April 30th, 2022

As New Yorkers, we’re Better Together. After so long apart, this year we will gather in person at the iconic Apollo Theater to celebrate hundreds of men who have overcome homelessness, incarceration, and addiction. RSVP for your FREE ticket and learn more at doe.org/grad2022. We hope to see you there!

Ready, Willing & Able works better together by combining paid work, housing, and support services in one program. And so do the diverse stakeholders — from employers to housing providers, politicians, and supporters like you — who help make our graduates’ successes possible. This year, guests will include graduates alongside their families and children, Doe Fund staff and supporters, corporate and employer partners, and political leaders like City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams… plus a top secret celebrity guest via video!

There is no Doe Fund event that speaks more clearly to the transformative power of work, the potential within the men we serve, and the efficacy of our model than our annual Graduation ceremony.

Mama Doe Crying:Tears

The Doe Fund’s Virtual Mama Doe Memorial | Saturday, December 25, 2021

Every Christmas Day since 1985, hundreds of formerly homeless and incarcerated men and their families gather to honor “Mama,” the homeless woman whose death led to the creation of The Doe Fund.

Although we are unable to come together in person, we refuse to forget the thousands of homeless Americans who lost their lives this year. Please honor their memories by lighting a virtual candle at doe.org/mama, and join us there on Christmas Day at 10am EST for our Virtual Mama Doe Memorial.

Sweeping Recovery: The Doe Fund’s Annual Gala | Thursday, October 21st, 2021

Despite the many challenges that lie ahead for our city and nation, there’s so much reason for hope. Americans are getting vaccinated, the country is reopening, and we are finally able to gather in person again. If that’s not reason to come together, what is?

Please join us for Sweeping Recovery: The Doe Fund’s Annual Gala to celebrate the role that the Men in Blue will play in rebuilding a more inclusive, vibrant New York City. We hope to see you at Cipriani (110 E 42nd St, New York, NY 10017) on October 21st at 6pm EST. Guest must be vaccinated to attend.

Sweeping Recovery will also honor the life and work of our Founder, George McDonald, and celebrate the enormous return on investment in human capital made possible by his vision and your support.  This year, “ROI” has an additional meaning:

  • Resilience of the Men in Blue, who were frontline heroes during the pandemic.
  • Opportunity to be a crucial resource as NYC—and the nation—recovers.
  • Innovation for new solutions to homelessness and recidivism.

Please partner with us as we rebuild a safer, cleaner and more vibrant New York City. Learn more at doe.org/gala2021.

Dishes by Doe | Thursday, June 10th, 2021

Every year, we showcase the trainees in our Culinary Arts and Chef in Training programs at Dishes by Doe. We hope you join us virtually for our 5th annual event!

Three of our Ready, Willing & Able graduates—now professional chefs—will teach you how to prepare their signature dishes and serve them to panelists from three of Harlem’s hottest restaurants. We’ll also have a special, interactive Q&A at the end of the program to learn how our graduates and panelists are dealing with Food Justice during the pandemic and hear their thoughts on the restaurant industry’s future.

Learn more about this exciting event at doe.org/dishes2021. We hope to see you there!
